Corrie, my wife, had what is called Interocular Contact Lens surgery yesterday.

Corrie has worn glasses all her life and has been okay with them but she has always wanted the freedom to not have to wear them.

So most of you are probably thinking “then why doesn’t she get some flappin’ contacts?”  This would be a legitimate question and the answer is:  she’s actually allergic to the material that normal contacts are made out of.

So you might be wondering “seriously, can a person be allergic to contact lenses?”   Again, the answer is yes.  Contacts have always made Corries eyes red and watery.  We recently heard about a surgery that would place a permanent lens on Corries eye that would permanently correct her vision and wean her off of glasses.  After we squared away the funds, we pulled the trigger and yesterday they completed her first eye.

I stayed home with beh-behs and got to play the single-dad, homemaker, and nurse to my busted-eye-balled wife.  As of today she has 20/20 vision in her right eye and the next surgery is scheduled for a couple of weeks from now.  I didn’t finish clean-up and dishes until 1am so I made an executive decision to cancel the show.

But  I didn’t want to leave you with nothing so I’m going to give you a list of the names of the top 10 most download shows as of today (4/10/13).  Pick one, and click on it and it will take you to the episode for your listening pleasure!

Praising kids.  Is it good, or more like training a dog?

How there is a thin line between praising a kid to teach and train, and manipulate/trick kids into doing what we want.

How to find that thin line on praising.

SHOW NOTES

The Real Family Guys have suggested that praise is a powerful and wonderful tool to use in parenting.  But today we go over an article that suggests that praise is not a good thing.  Oooooh!  Now watcha gonna say?

Today we discuss how praise can be a wonderful thing, or be the same techniques that we use to train dogs.

Episode 208 Can’t See Good, Cause You’re Stuck Seeing the Bad

Negative Positive by Dan White 2010 at Flickr.

Negative Positive by Dan White 2010 at Flickr.

Join me as we discuss:

The natural propensity to be negative in our culture and with our kids.

How, as innocent as this may be, this mentality is tearing our kids apart.

Two powerful techniques to reversing the Negative Nancy’s.

SHOW NOTES

Come on.  Lets get seriously honest here.  It is way freakin’ easy to rip our kids a new bunghole than it is to teach them, in advance what to do and not to do.  Sometimes we only notice what they are screwing up or getting wrong.

How would a job like this go for us?  Likely, not very well.  Kids are absolutely no different.

Today we discuss how negative parents often are, without even being conscientious about it and how to correct his and get positive like and ion baby!

Parenting at Its Core

Parenting at Its Core

Join me as we discuss:

Parenting at its core. (see what I did there)

Understanding what the purpose of parenting has to be if we want it to be successful.

What is parenting as a service?

SHOW NOTES

We have a tendency to get into parenting with hopes of kiddos that bring us joy and happiness and sometimes that it true.  But what if I told you that this is the wrong mentality.  That this can breed something in your kid that we ultimately don’t want there.

Today we discuss parenting as a service, and the unfortunate alternative.
