No Show…and Firewood!

Grant and Cora stomping down our kindling for more space.

Join us as we discuss:

Texas is preparing for a cold snap.  I mean a very cold snap.  We are expecting below freezing temperatures so the Homestead de Gibson has been preparing.

Our new home has a fireplace in the living room (a fire burning stove to be precise) so we have spent the weekend cutting up kindling and fuel for the stove.

I did not force the kids to help.  I merely added that getting to sit in front of the fire was only for those that helped cut the wood.  I did not force them to help one time.

When they asked to take “a break” or asked “Dad, do I have to work anymore” I simply smiled and said “of course not.”

My kiddos worked.  And they worked hard.  We finished up tonight well into dark.  Imagine me with a flashlight in my mouth while I’m running a chainsaw and splitter the whole time. But those kids rolled me cut up logs for splitting all night.  I was genuinely amazed at their persistence.  We put in about 9 hours of work today.

All that to say, we are bushed and ready for bed.  There will be no show today and we will see you guys on Wednesday.

Kids and AlcoholJoin us as we discuss:

Kids and alcohol.  How do the Casa’s de Emery and Gibson handle alcohol with their kids?

Dr. Laura Markham, arguably one of Jeff’s and my favorite bloggers, gives a great 13 point list on what you should know when you talk to your kids about alcohol.

How we don’t want you to necessarily adopt our perspectives, but we want you thinking about what you believe, and passing that to your kids as early as possible.
