Yesterday we were asked to come into our doctors office so “we could talk.” Dr. Nicole Bullock has been phenomenal due to her letting us attempt a vaginal birth after 3 previous c-sections. We were excited and honored that a doctor would allow us to do this.
So why, you may ask, would we do such a painful thing? Research shows that the more c-sections you have the more less children you can safely have. Corrie and I have talked and we both know that we want to have a lot of kids. We both love being Mommy and Daddy and we are pretty good at it. We very much would like to have many more kids and want to do whatever we can to make that happen. Corrie also had a terribly poor experience with her last c-section with tremendous, tremendous pain.
When we went into Dr. Bullocks office she informed us that, due to hospital policy, we would be unable to do the natural birth. We were crushed but after talking about it, we feel like we had done everything we could to do things the way the body wants to. We scheduled the c-section and arrived at the hospital this morning at 5am. We got all checked in and ready to roll.
This c-section was flawless! Fast and efficient with no hiccups. They had baby cleaned up and Corrie stitched back up in record time. And more beautiful than everything, Corrie reported MUCH less pain than our last c-section experience. Staff was fantastic and people were friendly and helpful.
Charlotte Louse Gibson was born today at 8lbs 1oz at 21 inches. She came out healthy and unhappy to be leaving her warm cocoon she had 9-month residence in. She passed her APGAR test with flying colors and has a ton of strawberry-brown and probably curly hair.
Great day with a great experience considering my wife just underwent invasive surgery. I want to say thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. This will be substituting todays podcast since I will not have time to record. You guys have a great day, a great weekend, and remember, it’s all about the relationships with your kid.
