As I was finishing the intro segment to today’s show my mother called me and told me that my grandfather had passed away.  He had been diagnosed with bone cancer for quite some time now and his health has been fading.  

To the extent you can be prepared for death, we were.  Before his health was waning, he gave me almost all of his tobacco pipes and they have become my flagships for pipe-smoking (yes…only in moderation while practicing temperance).  

There has been something therapeutic about having them I suppose.  Almost like keeping a piece of him with me.

I need some help from you PETAKers and audience members. FPN is growing into the age of advertisers (very similar to Jacks at TSP).

I choose not advertise for *anything* that I wouldn’t sell to my grandmother so I want to start reaching out to companies that are honest, solid, and think similarly to us, that would want to support the mission of FPN.  People you guys trust, respect, and would want discounts to.

There will not be a show today.  I’m taking a mental health day from my day job and FPN to work on getting our Fall garden planted.  The kiddos are helping and we’re going to be looking at beets, broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi, radishes, and lots of lettuce and spinach.
