Texas is preparing for a cold snap. I mean a very cold snap. We are expecting below freezing temperatures so the Homestead de Gibson has been preparing.
Our new home has a fireplace in the living room (a fire burning stove to be precise) so we have spent the weekend cutting up kindling and fuel for the stove.
I did not force the kids to help. I merely added that getting to sit in front of the fire was only for those that helped cut the wood. I did not force them to help one time.
When they asked to take "a break" or asked "Dad, do I have to work anymore" I simply smiled and said "of course not."
My kiddos worked. And they worked hard. We finished up tonight well into dark. Imagine me with a flashlight in my mouth while I'm running a chainsaw and splitter the whole time. But those kids rolled me cut up logs for splitting all night. I was genuinely amazed at their persistence. We put in about 9 hours of work today.
All that to say, we are bushed and ready for bed. There will be no show today and we will see you guys on Wednesday.
